Viva Musica is so excited to announce the details of our 4th Annual Benefit event, including a new venue! Drumroll……
FAMOUS DAVE’S in Uptown!

Not only will VM4 be held in the awesome, musically inclined space that is Famous Dave’s, but we also have some big names lined up to grace the stage and play some great music! Our opening act is the band “Eden”, of which past VM performer Danny Fromm is a member of. You may remember Danny from several past VM events, most recently the Fall Arts Festival in Brainerd last year. Also playing will be Mick Sterling, as well as another popular Minnesota name, Kurt Jorgensen! Learn more about these talented guys on our “Introducing the Artists” page!

VM4 Details
What: Viva Musica’s 4th Annual Benefit Concert
Where: Famous Dave’s in Uptown, MN (Calhoun Square)
When: February 25th from 2pm – 5pm
Why? Awesome live music, a silent auction, saving music and arts in Minnesota schools, good karma…. the real question is – Why WOULDN’T you want to come? (Hint: That’s a trick question…)
This venue holds up to 400 people. If we can get 400 people to attend VM4, it will be the LARGEST EVENT of this type EVER at Famous Dave’s! We want this to be the most successful VM event in the history of Viva Musica, and we need your help! PLEASE spread the word about this great concert! We know it’s going to be a blast!

We had so much fun and want to send a huge THANK YOU to all of the fabulous vendors, artists, dancers, and people who made donations. While the dust is still settling, we have already started planning several events for 2012!

In addition to VM’s annual gala in the winter, we will also be adding a few more really fun events… In a few new locations… more details to come in the next few months! In the meantime, submit your school’s grant application TODAY! Our events will depend on how many grant applications we have, so make sure that your favorite school applies! There is no due-date yet, but the earlier, the better.

Viva Musica is so excited to announce that we will be adding a second event to our 2011 lineup! We will be hosting a fun, family-friendly event at Zorbaz on Gull Lake in Brainerd, Minnesota. The festival will take place on September 17th, 2011 and we are hoping for great weather so we can enjoy the beautiful views on Zorbaz’s patio! There will be dancing, music, art, and great local vendors, including a day at the races where you can learn how to drive a racecar! There will also be a dancing perfomance and free lessons from Oscar and Michelle Gonzalez and Spirit Movement Dance Studio.

The headlining musical act will be the awesome band One Night Stand. You may remember them from our first Viva event in 2009. The most exciting part of their performance is that they will be recording for their new album!

Tickets for VMIII go on sale FEBRUARY 1st!
The event is March 19th, 2011 at Intermedia Arts in Uptown. There will be live music, art, and silent auction. Tickets are just $23 on-line and $27 at the door. Proceeds for the event will benefit the music program at Richard R. Green Central Park School in Minneapolis. Space is limited so dont wait! Help save the arts today!

Check out musician Danny Fromm from McNally Smith College of Music as well as our headlining act this year, “New Shoes“. Both bands are talented, lively and fresh with a bluesy undertone. They are definitely worth checking out.

This year, we will be donating the funds to Pine Hill Elementary School in Cottage Grove, MN.

They have asked for a Yamaha portable grand piano. It is an electronic keyboard for everyday classroom music education and will also be used in school performances. The piano has different settings that give Pine Hill Elementary students access to 503 instruments (with more available on-line that can be downloaded using the USB port.) 88 of those settings are authentic samplings of percussion instruments that can be played by students in classroom rhythm ensembles as young as Kindergarten.

“I have found that a quality keyboard is essential to my teaching… Consistent use of the keyboard quickly and strongly develops all students’ ability to confidently sing in tune, which is a skill necessary for a future lifetime of participation in many types of music.” -Mr. Sandberg

We will be holding a fundraising concert in January to raise funds for their new piano!

Without a functional percussion section, the band’s success is significantly limited. The funds raised from this event will purchase new, long-lasting, high quality percussion instruments, replace broken auxiliary percussion instruments, repair current percussion instruments, and build new cabinetry and storage for percussion instruments.  As a result of these improvements to the Watertown-Mayer Middle School Band Program, every band student will experience creativity, imagination, and musicianship at a much higher level.

This effort has inspiring potential as this benefit concert will pump new excitement and energy into the students of Watertown-Mayer Middle School!

The benefit was held February 20th at Five Event Center in Minneapolis. Bands that played in support of Viva Musica’s mission were One Night Stand and Steve Sullivan and the Factory.

The event hosted artwork by local artists including Haley Champion. Aligning the hallways were also works from 2nd graders from Minneapolis and 6-9th graders from Stevens Point, WI.

Thank you to all the artists and musicians who shared their talents!
